This is a mirror with more speaking filenames (and without makefile) of the TTS collection of http://marc.spoorendonk.com/ - I created it because I had troubles downloading it from the original location. The biggest file is NL2PHO, a Perl script to convert Dutch text into phoneme strings for the MBROLA speech synthesis system, see http://tcts.fpms.ac.be/synthesis/mbrola.html - MBROLA has a pretty free license. Roughly, it is free for personal use. Other files: A daemon to dispatch text to the TTS, a plugin for the GAIM instant messenger, scripts to say text in straightforward way, using esd sound driver connection. I personally use a similar script (called from .forward) to make my PC speak the subject / from lines of incoming mail. Ask me if you want it. This version of NL2PHO has improved vowel length processing, some list of two-digit number translations, better acronym processing, stripping of ----, ____, ==== or ++++ "text graphics", better URL processing. Marc himself only writes that he changed "to[o] much to mention". The above is a list of improvements that I found comparing his version to my original 3/2003 version, which you can find in http://www.coli.uni-saarland.de/~eric/stuff/soft/ (unless I replace it by Marcs version in the future!?) Have fun with MBROLA, NL2PHO and Marcs additions :-) ... Eric (eric -at- coli.uni -minus- sb.de) 4/2003.
